Job Summary:

The IT Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support and maintenance of the organization’s internal network systems, workstations, telephony, and business applications. They work with users in the Worcester, MA and Warner Robbins, GA office, as well as with remote employees – as directed by the IT/Compliance Manager at Covenir – to ensure quality and consistency in the administration of systems.

Job Description:

The IT Systems Administrator will:

  • Work with users to identify system requirements; develop processing procedures and system modifications to meet these specifications.

  • Administer and maintain core network infrastructure.

  • Administer and maintain Windows OS environments (including all desktop and server variants, both physical and virtual).

  • Support non-desktop hardware (printers, inserters, postage meter, OPEX scanner, etc.).

  • Image and update Covenir systems (Azure, physical or virtual).

  • Coordinate with managers and users to identify systems problems; assess severity of issues and prioritize responses as appropriate.

  • Train users, where necessary, in use of hardware and software.

  • Perform scheduled patching and update procedures on server and infrastructure systems.

  • Provide flexibility in work assignments as required, including but not limited to: network administration, helpdesk request resolution, equipment distribution, desktop/laptop/server installation and configuration, hardware/software inventory management, and hardware repair/component replacement.

  • Operate independently and think on your feet to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.

  • Perform proactive reporting and regular systems reviews to identify potential issues and improvements.

  • Manage and optimize Azure infrastructure, including cost analysis and forecasting, to support budget planning.

  • Oversee cloud environments including Azure and AWS.

  • Maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure, including Cisco Meraki networking equipment, firewalls, VPNs, and peer-to-peer network configurations.

  • Lead and manage IT projects by developing detailed plans, setting and meeting milestones, monitoring progress, and maintaining appropriate buffers. Provide clear reporting on project status to stakeholders.

  • Work with minimal supervision.

  • Manage infrastructure systems to include SIEM, Web & Email gateways, and Misc. Vulnerability scanning tools to protect the overall security posture

  • Coaching and mentoring of technical and non-technical staff

  • Work independently or as a team to achieve project, strategic or tactical goals

  • Project Mgmt. and leadership tasks as assigned

  • Rely on broad experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Use creativity and latitude to accomplish position responsibilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of work experience in Systems/Network Administration.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

  • Required Proficiencies: Support abilities in Windows Server environments, TCP/IP configuration, wired & wireless networking configuration and application support.

  • Preferred Proficiencies: MS Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Azure, Azure cost analysis and forecasting, AWS management, enterprise infrastructure and security standards, basic scripting/programming abilities in PowerShell, VBScript, RoboFTP, or similar.

  • Preferred hardware or system support certifications: MCP, A+, Network+, or similar.

  • Experience with Windows Server configuration, implementation, and support.

  • Experience with Microsoft .Net development and T-SQL a plus.

  • Demonstrated understanding of site-to-site and client/session-based VPN connectivity.

  • Experience managing and performing assigned projects through design, testing, implementation, and completion phases, including milestone planning, reporting, and buffer management.

  • Ability to interface with local and remote staff and management to determine IT needs of Covenir.

  • Ability to analyze and effectively communicate needs of Covenir offices and remote workers to management.

  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with networking, hardware, and software systems.

  • Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure and security standards.

  • Friendly and professional attitude, with a dedication to providing excellent end-user service.

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both written and verbally, with all levels of users and management.

  • Ability to reason logically and provide intelligent, well-constructed, and tailored solutions.

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to deliver effective solutions under deadlines.

  • Availability to be ‘on call’ or work after hours as required.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
