Role Summary The primary responsibility of a Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant is to ensure the utmost safety of guests aboard company aircraft. This requires the ability to perform safety procedures and assist passengers effectively during emergency situations. Flight Attendants operate in a dynamic environment, requiring composure and skill in handling emergencies and interacting with diverse personalities in an attentive and pleasant manner. Secondarily, they are responsible for delivering a consistent and exceptional level of customer service within the aircraft cabin, including food and beverage service, to provide an unparalleled aloha experience. This is a union-represented position. Key Responsibilities Preflight Preparation & Briefings: Participate in preflight briefings covering flight details, weather, routes, emergency procedures, crew coordination, and onboard services. Prepare the aircraft cabin to ensure readiness for boarding and departure. Guest Interaction & Assistance: Extend a warm welcome to guests, assist them to their seats, and help with stowing carry-on luggage. Address flight-related inquiries and provide prompt, courteous service throughout the flight. Safety Demonstrations & Compliance: Conduct demonstrations on the proper use of safety equipment, including seat belts, oxygen masks, and life jackets. Monitor guest adherence to safety regulations and address any non-compliance professionally. Emergency Response & Incident Reporting: Guide and assist guests during emergency procedures, such as evacuations. Administer first aid as needed and document all emergency and safety-related incidents through written and verbal reports. In-Flight Service Delivery: Provide consistent food and beverage service in accordance with airline protocols. Process payments for onboard purchases, including meals, beverages, and duty-free items. Landing Preparation & Post-Flight Duties: Prepare guests and the cabin for landing following established procedures. Ensure the cabin is secure and assist with passenger deplaning. Training & Regulatory Compliance: Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures as mandated by FAA and airline regulations. Must obtain and maintain authorization for unescorted access to aircraft and SIDA areas. Teamwork, Professionalism & Physical Readiness: Collaborate effectively with crew members to ensure a seamless and enjoyable guest experience. Maintain professional conduct, identify and escalate potential issues, and meet the physical demands of high-altitude flying and varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Guest Service Excellence: Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a continuous aloha experience by responding promptly and pleasantly to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints during flights. Emergency Duties: Be prepared to perform essential emergency duties, which may include assisting ill passengers or crew, evacuating the aircraft in challenging conditions, operating emergency equipment, handling emergency cabin windows (up to 60 lbs), and utilizing emergency slides from heights. Qualifications Required: A minimum of two (2) years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four (4) years of customer contact and issue resolution experience in industries such as retail, education, healthcare, or professional services. Proficiency in speaking business-level Korean and reading Korean characters (Hangul). Minimum vertical reach of 82 inches. Successful completion of annual FAA-approved re-certification training provided by Hawaiian Airlines. Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures as per Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations. Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively de-escalate and resolve difficult customer situations. Ability to work in an environment subject to varying climatic conditions, gravitational loads from turbulence, and cabin pressurization changes. Must be able to stand for extended periods (four to seventeen hours), potentially involving stooping, twisting, pulling, and pushing cabin equipment. Ability to lift 25 lbs from floor to above shoulder height. Comfort with water-based emergency training and potential in-flight water emergencies while wearing a life vest. Ability to properly secure oneself in a jump seat with a harness and move expeditiously through the cabin aisle in all situations. Successful completion of an FAA-approved, unpaid eight (8) week intensive training program. Ability to serve alcoholic beverages. Willingness to relocate within Hawaii or the continental U.S. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Successful completion of a tuberculosis (TB) test. Possession of a valid passport and the ability to obtain necessary visas for international travel. Legal authorization to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines. Travel documents must remain valid throughout training and employment. Availability to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum age of 21 years. Authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred: A college education or degree. Additional Details Candidates must present a professional image. Visible body art (including tattoos), facial piercings, multiple or upper ear piercings, gauge piercings, or extreme hair colors/styles are not permitted while in uniform or in public areas. Bases are located on the West Coast. Candidates may be assigned a base upon hiring. Hiring classes are scheduled for 2026. FAA training, held in Honolulu, is an unpaid eight-week intensive program. Compensation and Benefits Starting Rate: USD $0.00/Hr. Salary Details: Alaska Seniority List Pay: First year step rate: $32.00 (per contract). Hawaiian Seniority List Pay: First year step rate: $28.96 (per contract). Total Rewards: Compensation and benefits may vary based on company, location, hours worked, tenure, and employment status.
