We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Hardware Engineer to join our Amazon Device Climate Tech Accelerator program. This role will be instrumental in driving the development of decarbonization solutions for integration into Amazon\'s products, services, and operations. The Lead Systems HW Engineer is responsible for system impact assessment and design of new solutions. They must be able to work on electrical and mechanical component integrations and be able to guide displays, battery, PCBs, materials, and power systems design decisions. The candidate must be comfortable presenting new concepts to executive leadership teams. Key job responsibilities As a Lead Hardware Engineer at Amazon Devices and Services, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative consumer electronics solutions. Your expertise in hardware systems engineering will enable you to lead the electrical design of consumer electronic products, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and integrate multiple technologies to develop new products. You will develop functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures. Additional details: - Lead the hardware development efforts for decarbonization solutions, focusing on decarbonization goals while balancing safety, reliability, usability, and financial viability. - Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor to director-level leadership teams, influencing decisions across various climate tech projects. - Align teams toward coherent architecture strategies, ensuring consistency between business requirements, engineering requirements, and architecture across multiple related climate-tech initiatives. - Lead design reviews for complex sub-systems within the organization and across Amazon and its partners, with a focus on decarbonization solutions. - Work with program teams to Develop and implement sustainability requirements early in the product development process to avoid unexpected costs and schedule delays. - Collaborate with multiple technical teams and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of decarbonization solutions across different organizational units . - Evaluate and push for reasonable trade-offs to enable progress in decarbonization efforts while maintaining product quality and performance . - Consider the impact of design decisions on contract manufacturers, including the use of recycled materials and sustainable manufacturing processes. - Demonstrate quantifiable carbon reductions early in the development process as a key metric for evaluating technology effectiveness. - Mentor and develop talent within the team, fostering organizational growth and promoting sustainability-focused engineering practices About the team The Devices and Services Sustainability innovates to reduce the embedded carbon emissions of Amazon Devices. We\'re a motivated team of scientists, engineers, product, and program leaders dedicated to designing devices with lower carbon solutions. - Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures - Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout - Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability - Experience in server technologies such as, thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity - Master\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent - Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production - Experience with the project management of technical projects - Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent - Display product design experience Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market.
