Job Description

Mcel, Mozambique's leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a dedicated Work from Home Transcription Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this crucial remote role, you will be responsible for converting audio and video recordings into precise written text. Your work will support various departments within Mcel, including customer service, marketing, legal, and internal communications, by ensuring that our spoken content is meticulously documented and readily accessible. This can include transcribing customer interactions, executive meetings, promotional materials, training sessions, focus group discussions, interviews, and more. Accuracy, speed, and discretion are paramount, as the information you handle will often be sensitive and confidential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe audio and video recordings accurately and efficiently into written text.
  • Proofread and edit transcripts to ensure grammatical correctness, punctuation, and proper formatting.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all transcribed materials.
  • Adhere to specified style guides and transcription guidelines provided by the company.
  • Manage transcription workload to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Identify and clarify inaudible sections or unclear speech in recordings.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding project status and any challenges encountered.
  • Utilize transcription software and tools effectively to enhance productivity.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to type accurately and quickly (minimum 60 WPM).
  • Excellent command of Portuguese grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote workload effectively.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a transcription, data entry, or administrative support role.
  • Familiarity with transcription software and digital audio players.
  • Proficiency in English or other local Mozambican languages is a plus.
